Young driver in stable condition

THE TEENAGE driver airlifted to hospital following a road accident in west Fife on Wednesday was reported to be in a stable condition yesterday.

The accident happened at around 2.30pm on the A907 road near Bogside and involved a blue Ford Fiesta driven by the 17-year-old and a lorry.

The Fiesta was heading east when it was involved in the collision with the HGV near the entrance to the Fife Silica Sands quarry.

Fire crews from Dunfermline, Rosyth and Lochgelly worked on cutting the young man free from his car.

He had sustained serious leg and pelvic injuries.

He was then airlifted by helicopter to Glasgow’s Southern General Hospital.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

Police are appealing for information from witnesses who may have seen the accident or the vehicles before the incident.
