ANGUS COUNCIL’S strategic policy committee will next week consider a report which proposes that the council investigate shared use of the old Kinloch Primary School in Carnoustie with a community group.
Commenting on the report, committee convener Councillor Bob Myles said the council was aware of the significant community support for the development of a heritage and cultural centre in the old school.
He said, “The Carnoustie Centre Action Group has been working on proposals for the creation of a centre in the old school for some time and recent surveys and meetings have demonstrated considerable local support for the concept.
“The council has been involved in these discussions and what we are now proposing is that we explore the feasibility of the council relocating some of its local services to the building and enter into further discussions with CCAG about the potential for a joint development of the facility.”
A report on the outcome of these investigations would then be brought back to a future committee for consideration.
