Roaming Rambo returns

Mr Robertson and Rambo.

A KIRKCALDY man has been reunited with his escaped pet cockatiel, thanks to an appeal from The Courier, after it went missing for six days.

Jamie Robertson contacted reporters by Email when his grey and yellow bird Rambo was startled and flew out of the kitchen window of his home on Kidd Street in the Gallatown area on Monday last week.

He said, “I had given up hope of finding him, he had been missing for days.

“He is so friendly and is not afraid of people, I thought a cat might have got him,” he added.

Unknown to Jamie, Rambo had managed to make his way to the town’s Arnold Clark garage a mile away on Dunnikier Way, where he was found in the wash bay by a worker on Wednesday.

Mr Robertson said, “It was a Mr Harper who found him…just sitting on the ground.

“He took Rambo home and and his family looked after him until the SSPCA came to pick him up on Friday, to take him to Balerno near Edinburgh.”

Fortunately Mr Harper’s father read the appeal for Rambo in Saturday’s Courier and the bird was back with his owner later that evening.

Mr Robertson added, “I would like to thank The Courier, the Harper family and the SSPCA for all their help.”
