Post-mortem on body found in woodland

THE POST-MORTEM of the body found in a shallow grave in remote Perthshire woodland earlier this week was completed yesterday, Tayside police have confirmed, and it is expected its identity will be revealed today.

A report is being submitted to the procurator fiscal after the post-mortem.

The body was discovered at Knowehead Woodland, a few miles from Dunning, during inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of 87-year-old Dolina Maclean, who went missing from Stanley in Perthshire almost three weeks ago.

Investigations continued at the woodland yesterday and at another site at Moneydie, which is of significant interest to the inquiry.

Miss Maclean was last seen at Tesco Extra on Perth’s Crieff Road between 9.30am and 11am on Friday, May 30, a time when the store and its car park would have been busy with people and traffic.

Police will be at the Tesco Extra store today to distribute posters in the hope of jogging shoppers’ memories. The posters bear a picture of Dolina and her car and detail her last known movements.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw Miss Maclean—described as being 5ft 5in tall, with long fair hair and blue/grey eyes—or her dark green Vauxhall Astra (registration number SP52 NYM) in the Perthshire area between Thursday, May 29, and Saturday, June 14.

People can contact police on 0845 600 5705.
