Golf course recreated 100 years on

A HICKORY golf course which has been under development near Cupar is to open to the public this weekend.

Players at Kingarrock course, in the grounds of Hill of Tarvit mansion house, will be able to use original hickory clubs and dress in clothing typical of the early 20th century.

The course, created by Golf & Thistle, is modelled on a course with the same name created around 100 years ago by Frederick Sharp, whose family lived at Hill of Tarvit.Ahead of the launch on Saturday, the winners of a competition to name the nine holes were presented with specially-made, hand-painted tiles.

The top three entries were submitted by Ron Hoy, Peter Milne and James Finnie and all three of them received three tiles illustrated to represent the holes of the course from Griselda Hill Pottery.
