THE ARMY extravaganza The Pipers’ Trail is heading to Dundee this week.
Pipers, drummers and actors started their epic journey in Shetland two weeks ago and yesterday started the leg down the east coast to Dundee.
The Pipers’ Trail will complete a 460-mile journey as part of the Territorial Army’s centenary celebrations at the end of July in Edinburgh, having travelled throughout Scotland.
The road show travels from Banchory to Inverbervie today, Inverbervie to Montrose tomorrow, Montrose to Arbroath on Wednesday and Arbroath to Dundee on Thursday.
In Dundee a piping and drumming workshop will be held from July 1-3 for all skill levels. Those who attend the workshops can join in the massive events in Dundee city centre this weekend to mark Veteran’s Day and The Pipers’ Trail.
This is the first time the army has staged anything on this scale in Scotland and gives local regiments and battalions along the 460- mile route a rare opportunity to meet and interact with communities.
The Pipers’ Trail is the brainchild of Brigadier David Allfrey, Commander of 51 (Scottish) Brigade. He said, “The Pipers’ Trail has been attracting lots of interest as it has moved through the country. I’d like to call on the people of Dundee to join us as we make our way through the city.”
Next week The Pipers’ Trail splits in two to tour Perthshire and Fife. For further information, visit www.thepiperstrail.com
