Youth festival celebrates the coming of summer

STUNNING STUNTS, dazzling DJs, silky circus skills and banging bands were among the attractions as Perth played host to the Tents In The Park festival yesterday.

Organised by Perth and Kinross Council’s youth service, the event was held to mark the beginning of summer.

Tents In The Park was first held at the South Inch skate park last year and was a massive success, leading to an even more ambitious programme this time round.

“The event was organised to be bigger and better than before,” said a spokesman.

“It provided a massive stage to showcase local young musicians and bands and a separate set for DJs.

“Meanwhile, BMX bikers, skaters and bladers had the chance to compete in the Skate Jam.”

A host of other activities aimed to ensure there was something for everyone, with a ZapZone, street sports and circus skills among the attractions.

For those interested in artistic pursuits, the Click youth arts committee held an exhibition and showcased their new DVD, a contemporary ghost story filmed by the shores of Loch Leven.

A number of agencies were at the event offering access to information and advice relevant to young people and parents.
