RESIDENTS IN a Perthshire town are coming to terms with the deaths of two men in their area over the last two days.
The bodies were found yesterday morning and Thursday evening in separate incidents in the Blairgowrie area.
The first discovery was made at 7pm on Thursday, when the body of man in his mid-30s was discovered in a wooded area beside Back Brae, at its junction with the Coupar Angus road.
It’s understood the man was local.
Then yesterday police officers were alerted after a man’s body was found in a tent at Ballintuim Caravan Park, Ballintuim, at 9.30am. He is believed to be from the Edinburgh area.
Scenes of crime officers were yesterday carrying out “meticulous” investigations in the Back Brae area.
A police spokesman said, “We can confirm that a man’s body was found lying in a wooded area at Back Brae on Thursday evening. The area was cordoned off while officers carried out meticulous investigations.
“They were there as part of the investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the man’s death.”
He added, “The man has not been formally identified at this time although he is believed to be local to the area. As with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
The man found at Ballintuim caravan site was understood to be in his mid-30s. A member of the caravan staff made the grim discovery at 9.30am yesterday, when he alerted emergency services.
Ambulance staff attended but the man was declared dead at the scene.
Police were called out to carry out inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death and are in the process of informing his next of kin.
A spokesman said the man is believed to be from the Edinburgh area but his details will not be released until his relatives have been informed.
There are no apparent suspicious circumstances but a report will be submitted to the fiscal.
