THREE FIFE golfers took the plaudits in the clubhouse after each recorded a hole in one during their respective rounds on the same day.

Peter Stott (68), from Balbirnie, Jim Deas (65), from Kinghorn, and Bill Preston (66), of Glenrothes, all pitched in their aces while competing at the Crosbie Matthew Senior Open Golf Championship at Balbirnie Park Golf Club on Tuesday.

Mr Stott holed his effort at the 153-yard par three 11th with a six iron before going on to record a net 62 to win the overall handicap championship trophy.

Mr Preston was successful on the same hole, seeing his seven iron effort go straight in, while Mr Deas netted his ace with a driver on the 192 yard par three 14th.

All three won a prize of £50 each for their spectacular achievements.

The competition, which is for men aged over 55, attracted nearly 200 entries, mostly from the east of Scotland, with the oldest player aged 84.
