Mother’s vain hope for crash victim

THE MOTHER of Montrose man Shaun Jappy who died in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, four days after he was involved in a collision with a car, spoke yesterday of her despairing hope that he might have recovered from his injuries.

Mr Jappy (23), was a pedestrian when he was involved in the incident with a black Mini Cooper at 11.30pm last Friday and sustained serious head injuries.

“He had gone out to a birthday party with two friends,” said Mrs Shona Jappy at the family home in Glenesk Avenue.

“I don’t know exactly what happened. His two brothers, his sister and I thought he might pull through.

“He was a fun loving guy and everyone liked him…

“We have been inundated with calls of support.”

Police are continuing their inquiries into the incident and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
