Family unable to sell ‘ideal’ home

A BROUGHTY Ferry man has told how he has taken his “ideal family house” off the market after it failed to sell.

In an illustration of the deteriorating housing market in the Dundee area the homeowner, who asked not to be identified, said the lack of interest had forced his family to cut their losses and stay put.

“We are very disappointed not to sell it,” he said. “It is an ideal family house we have here and it is in very good condition.

“I think part of what has done us the damage is that there has been a lot of new builds nearby and they are able to offer more incentives to buy.

“But obviously things are very slow at the minute.”

A few years ago the spacious four bedroom house in a sought after area would have been expected to be snapped up quickly.

It is close to a popular primary school and within easy walking distance of a supermarket and bus links to Dundee City Centre.

But after more than six months on the market and several drops in price the house had still not sold.

A final effort to sell it at a fixed price also proved unsuccessful and last week the family took the decision to remove the house from sale.
