ON-TRIAL FORWARD Pablo Carrascosa has returned to Spain but could still end up joining Dundee United.
The 21-year-old former Hercules striker impressed boss Craig Levein.
However, the United chief is now seeking confirmation that he is a free agent.
“Pablo’s away back to Spain and while he’s there we’re going to look into things to make sure there’s no compensation involved or anything like that,” said Levein yesterday.
“After we find out exactly what the situation is we’ll sit down with him and see where to go. At this stage it’s still ongoing.”
United have no fresh fitness concerns ahead of their weekend trip to Plymouth.
“Everyone came out of the Barcelona game fine. We’ve put the lads through a double session today and now we’re just looking forward to our next match on Saturday,” said Levein.
Meanwhile, the manager revealed the thinking behind allowing young forward Kevin Smith— making his way back from a serious knee injury—to join Raith Rovers on loan.
“This move will do Kevin a world of good,” he insisted.
“He’s looked really fit and strong this summer but what he needs now is games to get to the next stage.
“He’s a quality player and someone I have high hopes for.”
