A MUIRHEAD bride-to-be, who faced an anxious wait to discover whether her serviceman fiance would arrive home in time for their big day, weds in Angus today.
Claire Bremner (26) and Lieutenant James Quince (27) will tie the knot at the 16th century kitchens of Glamis Castle this afternoon, after he arrived back safely from Iraq.
Earlier this month, Claire told The Courier she was keeping her fingers crossed that he would make it to the church on time, as there is always uncertainty whether those serving their country will get home by a set date.
To make matters even more stressful, James went to Basra just before he was due to fly home on leave.
Last night, however, the reunited couple were making final preparations for their wedding, staying in a cottage near Glamis Castle.
Claire’s father Norman Bremner told The Courier, “The wedding is going ahead—I should know, I’m giving Claire away! James has arrived back safely, they’re together and getting ready for the ceremony.”
The couple were engaged three months ago. They met in England when Claire was working at Lloyds TSB in Saffron Walden and Cambridge while living in Bury St Edmunds.
James, from the Suffolk town, was introduced to Claire by her flatmate while he was completing his military training at Sandhurst.
He now serves with The Royal Anglian Regiment— The Poachers—and is stationed at Celle in Germany. In April, Claire moved to Sulze, which is 20km from the base, in order to be close to him, finding work as an au pair.
