A LOCAL business enterprise organisation for young people launched a programme at Discovery Point in Dundee last night designed to help them start their own companies.

Young Enterprise Tayside is calling on volunteers from businesses to share their knowledge with teenagers and school teachers in a bid to get people involved in its new company prog- ramme.

Around 30 teachers, business advisers and board members from across the area attended the meeting to find out how working with the programme can benefit enterprising pupils in S5 and S6.

The chairman of Young Enterprise Tayside David Thomson outlined the benefits of education and local business working together and explained how local companies could get involved in this year’s programme.

He said, “The company programme is backed by business, delivered with support business and puts young people in the driving seat of their own small business.

“It is exceptionally rewarding to see the enthusiasm and creativeness of the young people in our area and to see them grow significantly in confidence throughout the company programme.”
