A GREEN-FINGERED team from Dundee College has designed a thoroughly eco-friendly garden in a bid to win the Lord Provost’s prize for a fourth year.
The horticultural group, in partnership with Craigmill Skillcentre, Strathmartine Hospital, and Tayside Energy Efficiency, will exhibit the garden at the Dundee Flower and Food Festival.
They have incorporated a range of features which show off the advantages of micro-renewable energy.
Of particular interest is a water fountain powered by the sun and a feature showing how to use solar power to provide lighting for a garden shed.
Gordon Croll, curriculum manager for the college’s horticulture department, said, “The energy organisation approached us about creating a garden to celebrate 10 years since their inception and we are delighted to accommodate them.
“With fuel prices soaring an energy crisis looming, the green fingered gurus have incorporated a range of features which show off the advantages of micro-renewable energy into their plans for the display garden.”
The three-day festival starts next Friday at Camperdown Park.
