T in the Park cleans up at festival awards

T IN THE Park organisers DF Concerts are celebrating after scooping three awards for the 2007 festival.

At the inaugural Scottish Event Awards presented by The Drum, T in the Park walked away with the titles of Best Large Festival, The Green Award and the special Event Grand Prix award as the best overall event.

Festival director Geoff Ellis said last night, “It’s a fantastic honour to have won these three particular titles against such strong competition.

“Our thanks go to our founding partners Tennent’s Lager for their continued support, and to each and every T in the Parker, whose loyalty, passion and dedication to the event helps create the legendary atmosphere for which T in the Park is known the world over.

“We continue to address our environmental impact and while delighted to have won the Green Award we will look at further ways of improving.”

Meanwhile, fans of The View who didn’t manage to get tickets for their Dundee or Fife gigs in October and November have another chance to see their heroes after they officially announced a new gig at Glasgow’s Barrowlands, which was exclusively revealed to The Courier’s Rocktalk earlier this week by the band’s bass player and songwriter Kieren Webster.

Scottish dates at Fat Sam’s in Dundee, Ocean in Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline’s Velocity sold out within hours of going on sale, and tickets for their Barrowlands date on November 28 are on sale from their website, www.theviewareonfire.com, or from www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
