A BROUGHTY Ferry councillor fears motorists hoping for a quick getaway from a Barnhill shopping centre are putting the lives of others at risk.
Rod Wallace has witnessed drivers who have parked at the Campfield Square shopping centre make their way out of the car park by driving across a pavement onto the road rather than through the designated exit.
There are six parking bays which face onto Nursery Road but there is no barrier to stop them driving across the pavement onto a busy road and bus route.
“I saw a family car choosing this route rather than by exiting the correct way,” Mr Wallace said.
“It would appear that as the car park was busy this owner decided to risk his vehicle and the lives of others by just going across the pavement and bumping down the kerb onto Nursery Road.”
Mr Wallace has written to the owners of the shopping centre, Belfast company BTW Shiells, asking them to address the issue.
He also wants them to repaint the white lines in the car park which indicate the direction traffic should travel.
