A FAMILY firm of fireworks display experts from Perthshire continues to light up the industry, narrowly missing out on being named best in the world.

Blast Design Fireworks Ltd, based near Coupar Angus, recently took second place part in the World Fireworks Championships held at Blackpool.

Blast Design—father and son John and David Kettles—was representing Scotland against the best fireworks companies from Germany, Canada and China.

The position is one place better than the 2007 entry by the local lads, who won the Scottish National Fireworks Championships title last year.

John said, “The judges said it was a tough call for first place, but China just nipped ahead.”

Among the speciality shows carried out by Blast Design across the UK are displays in water, on rooftops, over cliff tops and from castles, as well as indoor pyrotechnics and special effects for events and the film industry.
