A CRIMINAL who sneaked into tents during the T in the Park festival before making off with cash, handbags, cameras, phones and bank cards was jailed at Perth Sheriff Court yesterday.
George McMillan stole various items during the annual extravaganza, held at Balado in Kinross-shire.
McMillan, of Edinburgh, admitted three charges of theft, at the festival on July 13 and 14.
McMillan targeted campers, sneaking into the their tents while they were out enjoying the music.
Depute Fiscal Therese Oswald said the 28-year-old came to attention of police in relation to another matter and the items were recovered in a search of his tent.
McMillan told police he had travelled with friends and initially denied any knowledge of the thefts.
“He said he had gone for a walk during the early hours of the morning and later admitted he entered a tent on one occasion and removed a handbag and its contents,” Ms Oswald said.
“He said he could not remember stealing any other property but admitted he may have.”
McMillan’s solicitor said his client was under the influence of cocaine and alcohol at the time.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis noted that McMillan was the subject of a drug treatment and testing order at the time and on bail from Edinburgh Sheriff Court. McMillan was jailed for five months.
