Further step on way to cycle path

A LIST of contractors has been selected by Angus Council to tender for work on a new 2km combined path and cycleway between Carnoustie and Easthaven.

The completed route will be an important link in the Angus Coastal Path and will become part of both the Sustrans National Cycle Network and the North Sea Cycle Route.

Angus Council approved the project in 2004 and final agreement with landowners for the purchase of all of the required land was obtained in the early summer for the agreed route.

The project will see the creation of a dedicated off-road route which will run along the seaward side of the road from Carnoustie to Craigmill Den, where it will cross the road and run along the north side to Easthaven.

The six contractors selected from 18 companies are T & N Gilmartin, Ennstone Thistle, UPM Tilhill, Caley Construction, DJ Laing Contracts and Tayside Contracts.
