Two held after assault inquiry

POLICE IN Fife have made two arrests in connection with their inquiries into a serious assault on a Glenrothes man in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The 20-year-old victim was found seriously injured on a footpath around 1am after an incident near a play park in Barnton Place.

The man was taken to Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline where he is being treated for serious head injuries, although his condition was said to be “stable.”

A police spokesman said, “Two males have been arrested in relation to the incident in Barnton Place, Glenrothes.” They will appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court today.

Detective Sergeant Robert More, from Glenrothes CID, said, “I would still appeal to anyone who was in the area of Barnton Place, Golf Course Road and Elgin Drive, Glenrothes, at around 1am on Saturday morning to contact us.”
