Jeweller named best in Scotland

PERTH JEWELLERY designer Lorraine Law has been named Scottish Wedding Jeweller of the Year at the VOWS Awards in Glasgow.

The awards, held at the Hilton Hotel, celebrate Scotland’s leading wedding suppliers and the service they offer to couples planning their special day.

Lorraine, who has stores in Dundee and Perth, said she was delighted.

She said, “These awards are voted for by couples who would be happy recommending our service to others getting married and that makes them very special.”

Lorraine has designed jewellery for almost a decade, and her work includes designs for individuals and her own collections of contemporary jewellery.

Lorraine’s stores stock collections chosen from the UK’s leading designers as well as her own collections, while her design service is popular with couples getting engaged or married.

All nominations come from brides and grooms who recognise businesses that go the extra mile when helping with wedding plans.

The finalists are judged by a panel which includes judges from VisitScotland, Investors in People and Bridal Buyer magazine.

This year over 10,000 votes were cast—making the awards the biggest of its kind in Scotland.

Judge Susi Rogol said standards are very high.

She said, “Each and every finalist is an expert in their field, which makes the judges’ task very tough.

“But it is brilliant when, after hours of heated discussion and debate, the team isolates one company or individual who has a sufficient edge to walk away with a VOWS title.”

Lorraine is also up for a prize at the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Business Star Awards 2008, at the Crieff Hydro Hotel on November 20.
