Stephen to take over as chairman

STEPHEN THOMPSON has been confirmed as United chairman to take the place of his late father Eddie, writes Ian Roache.

The switch from chief executive will be ratified at a Tannadice board meeting tomorrow.

Stephen’s mother Cath will assume the role of vice-chair.

“This decision is probably expected by most people and we will formalise things on Friday,” he said last night.
