Knifepoint raid leaves shop worker shaken

FIFE POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a knifepoint robbery in Kirkcaldy yesterday.

A shop assistant was left shaken but unhurt after a man brandished a knife at him during the lunchtime raid.

The robber, said to be in his 20s, made off with cash following the incident at a mini-market in Sidlaw Street, in the Templehall area of the town, at around 1.25pm.

He was then seen running towards the Cheviot Road and Valley Gardens area.

He is described as being around six feet, of medium build, with dark hair and brown eyes.

He was wearing dark trousers and white training shoes, along with a distinctive cream jacket with a hood and a large pocket on the front.

DC Neil McKenzie, of Kirkcaldy CID, described the incident as a frightening one for the lone shop assistant, and added, “Luckily he was not injured.

“This is desperation on the part of this man who only got away with a small amount of cash.

“Somebody locally knows who is responsible and I am hoping the description of the male, particularly the cream jacket, will identify him.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 01592 251111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
