Bigamist hands himself in to police

A NEWBURGH woman spoke of her relief and delight at yesterday’s news that her bigamist husband had handed himself into police.

Rod Sangster (58) had been charged with bigamy but failed to appear for trial at Warwick Crown Court on November 14 but the case went ahead in his absence.

A jury returned a guilty verdict in around two hours for the former church minister but sentencing was deferred to give authorities time to locate Sangster.

Warwickshire Police told The Courier that Sangster handed himself into Steyning Police Station in West Sussex yesterday morning.

It is believed he will be detained in custody until his sentencing tomorrow at Warwick Crown Court.

In 2004, Sangster wed his third wife Jann Wallace (56) while still married to his Perth wife Jill Sangster—before leaving both in deep debt.

Earlier this week Jann spoke to The Courier about her ex- husband, stressing that he must be stopped.
