FORFAR’S FOURTH round Homecoming Scottish Cup clash against Forres Mechanics looks like being a non-starter.
After the mercury fell again on Thursday night the frost is back in the ground at Station Park and club secretary David McGregor fears it will remain there and put the tie on the back burner until Tuesday night.
“The freezing temperatues weren’t forecast and that was the last thing we needed,” he said.
“There will be an early inspection, but there would have to be a major change in the situation for the game to be on.”
The clash is a great opportunity for the Loons to land a chunk of vital cup cash, but boss Dick Campbell is only too well aware of looking beyond the 90 minutes.
“Every team we meet will be treated with the utmost respect, be they Celtic or Rangers or a lower league side,” said Campbell.
“It’s a massive game and we’ll go into it as favourites with an opportunity to get a place in the last 16, so we must make sure we play as we can on the day.
“But we’ve not played for five weeks which is a bit frustrating because were in a bit of form before that,” he added.
Dundee United loan signing Keith Watson has been cleared to play by the Tannadice outfit.
Campbell is hopeful of completing other transfer window activity soon, but probably not in time for today’s scheduled tie.
