PLANS FOR a car wash on the site of a former filling station at the Kingsway’s Strathmartine Road roundabout have been successful at the second attempt.
City Council development quality convener Rod Wallace said, “I am delighted to see that common sense has prevailed and some of the problems have been addressed.”
Last month the committee backed officials’ concerns about the impact on visual amenity on one of the city’s “ambassador routes,” which were supported by objections from neighbours and deferred consideration of the proposal.
Developer Robert Boyle then began a process of revision with architects and city planners before submitting an acceptable design for the £700,000 car wash at the former BP service station.
In place of the previous proposals, a higher single curved stainless steel wall will be built to screen the wash bays.
Transport Scotland also accepted revised arrangements for the entrance and exit from the site.
