JULIE PATERSON, one of the residents at the centre of the 2007 asbestos scare, told The Courier yesterday she was glad it was finally over.
She and her husband David and their three children, Shannon (13), Derrin (10) and Megan (6), were all forced to quit their home in Fraser Avenue.
They were put up in a hotel and then placed in temporary accommodation before finally ending up in Rosyth.
On hearing of the fines imposed on the council and ECG at the sheriff court, she said, “I am glad that they have been found guilty.
“As for us, we have already sued them, so there’s not much else to say.”
“We got the money for the loss of all our stuff and we got the separate money for the upheaval and the stress involved.”
Mrs Paterson added, “I am glad they have been fined, but they (the council) have had a lot of money to pay out to everybody.
“I think everybody’s been compensated.”
As for the impact on her life, Mrs Paterson said, “We’re fine now, but at the time it was devastating.
“I’m just really glad it’s all over.”
