Mackay glad of stability

DAVE MACKAY is looking forward to some stability with St Johnstone after Livingston’s dive into administration proved he made the right move at the right time.

The former Livi captain, who switched to McDiarmid Park in the summer, heard the news while in Northern Ireland with Saints and admitted it wasn’t a surprise.

It is the second time the Almondvale club have gone into administration, and Mackay is just glad he can concentrate on what happens on the park with the Perth men.

“It is a shame what has happened to Livi but it has been coming for a while,” said Mackay.

“The place has gone from one disaster to the next because it has been somebody’s plaything for too long.

“Change at the top is what they need, so admin-istration might turn out to be the best thing that’s happened because they can hopefully come through the other side stronger.

“They had a chance the last time but it didn’t work out.

“The contrast between Livi and St Johnstone is huge. This club have not thrown money at it like some have.

“Saints live within their means and even though it took seven years to get back to the SPL they have done it now and are in a strong position.

“At this club, at least you know you will get your wages every week, so by coming here all I have to think about is the football side of things.”
