DUNDEE’S SEASON ticket sales are almost 33% up on the same time last summer, writes Graeme Dey.
Two weeks from the big kick-off last year the Dark Blues had sold 1740 briefs.
As of yesterday the figure was 2300—127 up on their eventual total, including half season tickets, for the 2008-2009 term.
Club insiders are hopeful that with a fortnight to go to the big kick-off and an anticipated major push for promotion back into the SPL, the figure will hit 3000.
This would significantly boost the player budget, with directors having pledged to place double the amount generated from season ticket sales, over and above last terms levels, at the disposal of manager Jocky Scott who has so far signed nine new faces.
Last year, including half season tickets, the total number of briefs sold was 2173 so the Dens Park board look like having to dig deep.
“Sales are still brisk and we’re optimistic the total will rise considerably between now and the league season starting in a fortnight,’’ said a club source.
