Hills heads for comedy fest

Comedian Adam Hills in Kirkcaldy yesterday.

THE FIFE weather was dismal yesterday but there was plenty to smile about as top comedian Adam Hills visited Kirkcaldy to help launch the town’s comedy festival.

The Mock the Week regular and three time Perrier award nominee was at the Town House for the launch of this year’s extended festival, which will see 23 shows take place over nine days.

The festival will start on September 6 with young Scottish comedian Kevin Bridges.

Other top comics such as Tam Cowan, Des Clarke and Sean Hughes will appear along with the Australian star Hills.

In what will be his second appearance in the Lang Toun, Hills, who is performing at the Edinburgh Festival, said he is excited about performing at the Adam Smith Theatre.

He said, “I haven’t had a chance to look at the theatre yet but I’m looking forward to the show.

“When you’re in Edinburgh you have to finish and be off the stage at certain times so coming here it’s nice to have ‘your’ theatre and engage with the crowd a bit more than you usually would.

“When you’re on tour you tend to do your own thing but a festival environment gives a bit of competition between performers.

“There are some really good comedians coming here so it should be great.”
