A THREE-CAR accident caused havoc on the evening commute in Angus last night.
The A90 was shut southbound for an hour and a half at the height of rush-hour after an accident next to the Bervie Chipper, five miles south of Brechin.
A tailback two to three miles long soon formed after a blue Vauxhall Corsa and a red Rover saloon collided at the junction outside the restaurant at 6.15pm.
An Audi TT also received very minor damage in the smash.
Two elderly women in the Rover and another elderly woman in the Corsa needed to be cut free by the fire brigade following the crash.
They were all taken to Ninewells with unspecified injuries, not thought to be life-threatening.
No-one else was travelling in the Corsa or Rover and there were no other injuries.
One lane of the south-bound carriageway re-opened at 7.45pm, but the road did not reopen fully until after the Rover and Corsa were removed.
