Students light up for celebrations

DUNDEE COLLEGE art students lit up the campus with lantern creations yesterday ahead of tonight’s Christmas lights switch-on celebrations.

The floating lamps, created from wicker and tissue as part of the students’ 3D design project, will go on display at the Winter Light Night Parade.

There are over 20 designs and shapes include a cupcake, a suitcase, a shark and a sandcastle.

Curriculum manager of fine art Ian Ritchie said, “The lanterns may seem more reminiscent of a summer holiday than Christmas but the students were asked to consider memories to influence their design ideas.”
