A YOUNG Perth girl’s initiative should pay off handsomely next week when her Harry Potter book goes under the hammer.
Hearing that author J. K. Rowling was to be at Scone Races the youngster, armed with her first edition of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, tracked her down and she happily signed the title page.
Now the book is included in a sale at Lindsay Burns Auctioneers in Perth on Tuesday and has a pre-sale estimate of £200 to £300.
“The sale will be live on the internet and already people have registered to take part from as far afield as Russia, China and America,” said auctioneer Nick Burns.
In the paintings section is a picture of young girls on a beach at Macrahanish by Robert Gemmell Hutchison, which could fetch £7000 to £9000.
The sale is on view in the King Street auction house today (9am-2pm), tomorrow (1-3pm) and Monday (9am-5pm).
