Dundee boss Paul Hartley doing some late window shopping

Paul Hartley.
Paul Hartley.

Dundee ultimately deserved to take a point against Inverness on Saturday even if they did leave it mighty late to do so.

It will be a big relief to Dens boss Paul Hartley and his players that they did not go into the international break having suffered three defeats in a row.

The manager will also have been heartened by the return to action of skipper Kevin Thomson and Nicky Low from injury while Gary Irvine was handed his first start of the season at the expense of Kevin Holt.

However, once again there was no Rory Loy who is still recovering from a groin injury.

His absence combined with the departures last week by mutual consent of Luka Tankulic and Phil Roberts meant that Hartley was short of attacking options on his bench.

Add in the fact that young Craig Wighton is out on loan at Raith Rovers, then it is understandable that the manager is looking to bring in a wide player and a striker before the transfer window shuts tomorrow night.

Dundee could certainly do with the reinforcements before their next game in two weeks’ time against Partick Thistle, especially if the new additions are blessed with pace.

That is something the Dark Blues are noticeably lacking at the moment.

Hopefully, Loy will also be fit for the game against the Jags along with Julen Etxabeguren meaning Hartley should have more options available to him regardless of whether he is successful with his new player quest.
