Jake Hyde is hoping for a quickfire repeat of his first division title success last season with Dunfermline as he begins his second stint at Dundee.

The English striker, who signed a one-year deal at Dens on Monday, originally joined the Dark Blues as a trialist in March.

The 20-year-old netted three goals in two games for Barry Smith’s side, including one against the Pars.

That form persuaded East End Park boss Jim McIntyre to sign him until the end of the season as an amateur.

However, Hyde made only two appearances for Dunfermline before being injured, and missed the title run-in. His team-mates tried to make him feel part of the celebrations but Hyde admits they were tinged with regret.

Now, he is hoping to experience winning promotion to the SPL again with Dundee but this time as a key player.

“At Dunfermline, I picked up an injury at a really bad time,” he said. “The team were playing brilliantly and I do not blame the manager for then leaving me out, but I was still bitterly disappointed.

“There are no hard feelings, though. Within a week of being at Dunfermline, I felt like I had been there for ages. I did not play too often for them but it was still great to be part of all the celebrations, including the trip to Magaluf after the season had ended.

“They are a great bunch of guys but I still would have liked to have played a bigger part in their title success. Obviously, I wish them all the best for next year.”

He added, “I am now delighted to have everything sorted out with Dundee. There was interest from a couple of clubs down south but it was always pretty much set in my mind that I would be coming back here.

“There was just such a fantastic team spirit and togetherness when I was here before. Everybody was so strong because of the situation.

“I am now hoping to get as many games and goals under my belt this season to help Dundee push for promotion.”
