Dundee manager Paul Hartley praised his players despite losing 1-0 to Aberdeen at Pittodrie last night.

The Dons grabbed the only goal of the match after 14 minutes, when Adam Rooney bundled the ball in at the back post.

It was remarkable that it was the only goal of the game as there was no shortage of chances for both sides, albeit the Dons had the bulk of them.

Hartley said: “I thought the first half was end to end.

“They created chances and we had our keeper Scott Bain in inspired form.

“He made three or four great saves in five-10 minutes.

“We then ended up at the other end of the park and could have scored a couple of goals.

“So I thought it was a good game of football, especially when you consider the condition of the pitch.

“It got a bit scrappy in the second half and Aberdeen probably played the conditions better than us.

“But I thought, overall, our players’ attitude was brilliant.

“We were playing against a good team tonight but our togetherness was terrific.

“We were always in the game and I think Aberdeen knew they were always in a match against us tonight.

“I think the players can be pleased with that performance and it takes us nicely into Tuesday’s Scottish Cup tie against Falkirk.

“There are loads of positives for us.”
