Rory Loy celebrates scoring against Ross County.

Dundee boss Paul Hartley believes a fully fit Rory Loy will be a big asset at Dens this weekend, and beyond.

The summer signing scored two against Ross County on Saturday and has hopefully put previous ankle problems behind him.

Hartley said: “That’s the first home game he’s played in it’s all been away fixtures.

“Saturday was the first time I’ve been able to call on Loy, (Kane) Hemmings and (Greg) Stewart since the Dundee United game, because of fitness.

“We want to play this way with all three of them in the team. The key for me is making sure we can keep them fit, though.”

Motherwell caretaker boss Stephen Craigan will still be in charge for the visit to Dens.

The Fir Park club aim to appoint a new manager in time for the visit of Celtic on October 17, after the international break.

The club is going through applications. No timescale has been drawn up for the interview stage.

Former Kilmarnock manager Mixu Paatelainen thought to be in the running for the Dundee United post and his fellow Finn, former Motherwell midfielder Simo Valakari, have declared their interest.

A club spokesman said: “The board met on Monday evening for an initial review of the list of applicants for the role of first-team manager.

“Due to the number of applicants, it will take some time to complete the selection process and no interviews will take place this week.”
