Dundee boss Paul Hartley with latest signing Nick Ross.

Dundee boss Paul Hartley has admitted that while there could be yet more arrivals at Dens, some youngsters at the club will be leaving on loan.

The manager has so far brought in eight new players with the latest, Nick Ross from Inverness being unveiled just last week.

However, Hartley, who has already farmed out Craig Wighton to Raith Rovers, is looking to do the same with other promising kids at the club such as 18-year-old Calvin Colquhoun, who made his first-team debut against Celtic at the start of last month.

When asked if Ross’s arrival marked the end of his signing business, the manager said: “We will have a wee look.

“The window doesn’t shut until August so who knows what’s out there.

“But the really young players we have here, the likes of the Colquhouns will be put out on loan to get experience.

“I think they need to go and play real football in terms of development.

“I have already spoken to the majority of them and told them that is our plan for them.”

One youngster Hartley is still pondering over is 19-year-old Cammy Kerr.

The full-back spent most of last season out on loan at League One Peterhead and could have first-team opportunities at Dens limited this season with Paul McGinn, Gary Irvine, Kevin Holt and Daryll Meggatt providing competition in his position.

Hartley said: “We will get Cammy back in and see. Full-back is a strong area of the park for us now.

“He did well on loan so we will see where we are at.

“You never know, something could happen pre-season, we could get a couple of injuries and it changes.”

Meanwhile, Dundee have confirmed they will face Everton in a pre-season glamour friendly at Dens on July 28, kick off 7.30pm.
