Dundee youngster Sam Dryden made his first senior appearance in Scotland’s national stadium last weekend – and the on loan full-back is hoping it will be the first step to becoming a regular at Dens Park.

The right-back played the full 90 minutes for Elgin against Queen’s Park as the League Two leaders secured a goalless draw.

Dryden has targeted a league winner’s medal with Jim Weir’s side before returning to Dundee in the summer and staking his claim to be part of Paul Hartley’s plans in the 2016/17 campaign.

Dryden said: “It was some experience to play at Hampden. I am originally from Nottingham but I know that playing there is a bit special. I have been here to have a heart scan carried out but to be on the pitch was great.

“Games like the Queen’s Park one are what my loan move is all about – getting experiences I would not normally get.

“At Dundee I am playing under-20s football which is great but I need to work on the more physical side of the game if I want to progress.

“I have another year-and-a-half on my contract at Dundee and I want to use this period to help me push for first team next season. If I can help Elgin gain promotion that would be amazing.

“I enjoyed my first taste of senior football and want to build on it.”
