Paul Hartley to focus on three points during Alloa return

Paul Hartley returns to Recreation Park this weekend as he attempts to guide Dundee to the Championship title.

Paul Hartley says he will enjoy going back to his former club Alloa at the weekend but insists all he will be focused on is the Dark Blues securing three points.

The manager left Recreation Park in January after guiding the Wasps to successive promotions.

He returns to the club attempting to make it a hat-trick with Dundee, who know they cannot afford any more slip-ups following last week’s defeat at Morton, which handed the title initiative to Hamilton.

And Hartley has warned his squad that they will face an Alloa side that still has plenty to play for.

He said: “I am looking forward to going back with Dundee. All my focus and attention, though, will be about getting a good result.

“We will take a big support on Saturday and there should be a great atmosphere. Alloa are still fighting to stay in the league. They have a really good group of players who are hard working and have a lot of quality.

“We will pick a team that we think will win the match as we have done in every one since we came in. It will be a tough game for us but every one at this stage of the season is vital.

“It is all about getting three points, nothing else. I have great belief in the players.”

Hartley insisted that when he is in the dug-out on Saturday, he will not be keeping tabs on what is happening in the games involving Dundee’s promotion challengers Hamilton and Falkirk.

He said: “No, I don’t think you should do that. I would rather find out at the end of the game. We cannot control what is going on at other grounds.”
