Dundee boss Paul Hartley was delighted with the performances of his three trialists as the Dens men recorded a wonderful win over City.

The game may have only been a pre-season friendly but the 2-0 victory over the English champions shows a lot is going right with the Dark Blues as they prepare for life in the Premiership.

Hartley has uncovered talent in the form of his German duo defender Thomas Konrad and frontman Luka Tankulic while former Crystal Palace winger Keiron Cadogan also looks like he has something to offer.

Hartley revealed that Konrad and Tankulic will head back to their homeland today but it is clear he would like to do deals if possible.

“I was pleased with the trialists,” said the Dens boss, who saw his team strike twice in the first half through Gary Harkins and Tankulic.

“Luka did very well up front. It is difficult to play as a lone striker but he did it well.

“Thomas at centre-back was really strong. He worked away well with James McPake and was very commanding.

“The other young lad, Kieron, on the right-hand side, did well too.

“The three of them have been training away with us (in Hungary) for the past week and we just wanted to see them in a game.

“We will speak to them before they go back tomorrow. I think they’ve got a couple of options so we’ll see.

“They speak good English, are young, hungry and want to do well so we will see where we take it from here.”
