Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara will have to interrupt his club’s Scottish Cup semi-final build-up to attend an SFA disciplinary hearing.

McNamara has been summoned to Hampden on Thursday April 10 to explain his role in the incident involving St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright in last midweek’s Premiership game between the teams at Tannadice.

Both coaches were sent to the stand and the governing body have pencilled McNamara’s hearing smack bang in the middle of the preparations for the clash with Rangers two days later.

The United boss confirmed: “The SFA have been in touch and my hearing will be two days before the semi-final. You just deal with it.

“There was frustration on the night but I spoke to Tommy in my office after the game and there were no problems.

“You get frustrated but Tommy’s a nice guy and I get on great with him. We played them in friendlies when I was at Partick.

“We spoke away fine after the game. We are both under pressure everyone is under pressure to get results.

“I was disappointed to get sent off on the night but more disappointed to lose the game the way we did.”

Wright is due at Hampden on the same day, meaning he will also have to break off from his own club’s semi-final build-up.

However, the Northern Irishman will have an extra day to prepare as Saints face Aberdeen at Ibrox on the Sunday.
