Dundee United goalkeeper Rado Cierzniak believes the treble is still on.
The Tangerines travel to New Douglas Park tonight, looking to jump back ahead of Hamilton Accies into third spot in the Premiership behind Aberdeen and Celtic.
However, Cierzniak’s ambitions do not stop at the league.
With United meeting Aberdeen in the semi-final of the League Cup on January 31 and currently second favourites behind the Hoops to lift the Scottish Cup, Cierzniak has high hopes in all competitions.
Indeed, he feels this season offers the greatest opportunity in decades to snap up some serious silverware.
And he doesn’t care if people think he is getting a wee bit carried away.
Cierzniak said: “We want to win the cups and win the league.
“Everything is still possible for us and I can believe we can win all three. Why not?
“This is the biggest chance for Dundee United in the last 30 years.
“We are a strong team and I think we can achieve it.
“People might laugh at me saying that but I don’t care. We’ll see what happens.
“Maybe in May we will have won the league and the cups and I will be laughing too.
“I believe we have a very strong team and can win the league.
“At the start of the season I didn’t think about it because everyone knows that in Scotland only Celtic – nobody else – can win it.
“But now everyone has played each other twice and we are confident.
“We believe we are as good as Celtic.
“Before the season we were thinking about trying to win and it would be nice to challenge.
“Now we know we are a solid team and are capable of doing something good this year.
“This is the strongest the league has been in the three seasons I have been in Scotland.
“The league has improved, the teams are getting better.
“Celtic are still strong but the rest of the teams have got stronger and are closer to them now.”
If Cierzniak’s dream is to come true then United will need to be at their best on a more consistent basis.
When good they are very good but there are lapses and lulls, the latest coming in the first half at Firhill when Partick Thistle had them on the ropes.
Cierzniak knows he has a big part to play in achieving theat consistency.
“I think to win the games we need to keep clean sheets,” he said.
“If you do that then you will always give yourself a great chance to win matches.
“At the start of the season we didn’t play that well but were winning games.
“The fans were not happy because it wasn’t spectacular but we were still winning, grinding the results out every week.
“Right now, I think we play better football, our passing is better and we’re keeping the ball better.
“We’re scoring more goals and are playing more open.
“What we need to do is keep that part of it, the good things about our performances up front, but also add into that being more solid in defence.
“If you can’t win games you have to make sure you get a point.
“Points are valuable too and I respect the draw we got at Partick Thistle because it was a hard game and we had to battle to get it.
“Every team will drop points between now and the end of the season but the difference between one point and no points sometimes is very important.
“But the spirit is there in this team, the attitude is good and we believe that we can win every game we play now.”
Cierzniak is expected to leave Tannadice in the summer at the latest but he wants to depart as a winner.
“I don’t know what the future holds,” he said.
“The window is open but I will stay until the end of this season.
“I want to stay here and help the team win something good.
“After that I will think about my future but until then I will just focus on the games.
“It doesn’t do you good to think about yourself and your own situation. You have to think about the team.”
