Dundee United’s young talent backed for St Johnstone showdown

Dundee United assistant boss Simon Donnelly is backing the club’s young guns to shoot down Saints.
John Souttar, Ryan Gauld, Andy Robertson, Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven all started for the Tangerines at Ibrox, and Donnelly feels they can rely on them again when they play St Johnstone.
He said: “These guys have shown they can go and handle the occasion on more than one occasion this season.
“Hopefully we can go out and put a performance on,” he said.
“They are developing all the time.
“You look to Saturday there and, although we probably didn’t play as well as we can, we were clinical and capitalised on any mistakes Rangers gave us and I think that was the difference in the game.
“It was winning ugly, possibly, and we would obviously like to play a little bit better but the boys are learning and that’s only good for their future careers.”
“The final is the pinnacle of the season, the last game, and everybody wants to be in it.”
