Jackie McNamara explains why Paton and Wilson are out

Jackie McNamara has given his reasons for leaving Paul Paton and Mark Wilson out of his matchday squad for the trip to Inverness on Saturday.

The duo are the subject of an internal club investigation, believed to be in relation to a late-night Glasgow city centre incident which left former Tangerines goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska with facial injuries.

Neither were at St Andrews for training today, and McNamara has confirmed they won’t be considered for selection at the weekend.

He said: “I’ve decided to take the two players out of the limelight and try and focus on the game.

“I think it’s for the best with the attention surrounding it.

“We’re doing an internal investigation to make sure everything’s OK.

“It would be more disruption if they (Paton and Wilson) were here.

“My focus is on Saturday and getting the rest of the players ready for the game, and focus the best we can.”

McNamara does not know how long the internal investigation will last.

“It will take as long as it takes,” he pointed out.

“It’s outwith my hands. I’m not part of it. Everything will come out in due course.”
