Dundee United’s new central defender Jaroslaw Fojut has revealed his joy at getting another go at British football.
The 26-year-old Pole started his career inEngland with Bolton before returning to his homeland to join Slask Wroclaw in 2009.
He thought he had won a move back to the United Kingdom when Celtic signed him on a pre-contract agreement inJanuary 2012.
However, that move fell through when he suffered a knee injury in what was meant to be his farewell game for Slask and the agreement was cancelled by then Hoops boss Neil Lennon.
Fojut finally has his chance in the Scottish top flight after completing a two-year-deal, subject to international clearance.
He said: “I played in English football for five years and it was always my wish to play in the United Kingdom once more.
“This is a great cluband I feel this will be an excellent move for me and my career.
“I look forward tohelping United continue the progression it has shown over the last few years and I would liketo win trophies for the fans.”
The 6ft 2in stopper’s last club was Norwegian side Tromso and he has played for Poland at under-23 level.
He is the experienced, seasoned central defender Jackie McNamara has been lokking for and the United boss said: “Jarosaw is a strong and aggressive player.He will add to our defence and I am delighted to have secured him.
“We now have strong competition in the central defensive area of our squad and that was something we knew we had to address this pre-season.
“He is a commanding player who knows British football from his time at Bolton and he will fit in well at Tannadice.”
