Dundee United striking target Brian Graham refused to be drawn on where his future lies once his current deal at Raith Rovers comes to an end.

The prolific Kirkcaldy hitman has emerged as a player on United boss Jackie McNamara’s wanted list at Tannadice and could leave Stark’s Park for nothing this summer.

However, the 25-year-old forward is understood to be wanted by a number of clubs, including newly-promoted Partick Thistle, and he refused to rule out staying put at Raith with contract negotiations still to take place.

“I’m just playing it by ear at the moment and to be honest I keep things to myself,” he told Courier Sport.

“I’ve known about United being interested since January, but nothing’s been done and dusted at the moment and I’m in the same boat as the rest of the Raith squad. The First Division was supposed to get money if the league reconstruction went through, so maybe the club will have to rethink their budget I don’t know.

“I would imagine we will sit down in a couple of weeks and discuss things,” said Brian.

“But I can’t tell you A, B or C at the moment because I don’t know what’s happening.”

Graham, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has caught the eye of a number of SPL and First Division clubs following his exploits in Scottish football’s second tier this term.

The former Morton striker is sitting third in the First Division scoring charts with 16 league goals, but he has netted a total of 25 goals in 39 games in all competitions this season.

Graham proved to be a handful for United when he featured against them for Raith in pre-season, and the Tangerines’ boss McNamara could be eyeing the 25-year-old as a potential replacement for skipper Jon Daly, who has been linked with a move away from Tannadice this summer.

With a few clubs chasing his signature, the highly-rated Raith striker could therefore be about to make his final appearance in front of the Stark’s Park faithful this weekend.

Whether or not it is a home curtain call against Falkirk on Saturday remains to be seen, but Graham is looking forward to the game like any other and has thoroughly enjoyed his spell at Stark’s Park so far.

“We’re safe in the First Division and it’s great that the club will be playing First Division football again next season,” he said.

“I’m really enjoying it at Raith Rovers and I’ve scored a few goals as well this season, so it’s been a great two and a half years. I’m just looking forward to the last home game of the season this weekend.

“It might not be my last home game for Raith, we’ll just have to see what happens.”
