Forfar boss Dick Campbell has praised his club’s travelling fans for the incredible support they gave his team at Dunfermline at the weekend.

The Angus side kept their title hopes alive and kicking with a 3-1 win at the home of the full-time outfit and the Loons now sit second top just behind Morton on goal difference.

Forfar will play Ayr at home on the final day of the regular season on Saturday knowing if they win and Morton either lose or draw at Cappielow to Peterhead, then they will be crowned League One champions and Campbell is hoping a bumper crowd will pack into Station Park for the game.

He said: “It was a great victory for us at the weekend and all we can do now is just keep winning and see where it takes us.

“The fans were magnificent for us at East End Park.

“There were apparently over 300 there but it sounded more like 3,000.

“It makes such a difference to a club like Forfar to have an away support like that and I was absolutely delighted we could get the win for them.

“Hopefully, there will be many more at Station Park this Saturday to give us further fantastic backing.”

Not for the first time this season, Forfar keeper Rab Douglas was outstanding against the Pars.

The veteran, who turned 43 the day before the Dunfermline game, has agreed to sign another deal with the Loons and Campbell is delighted the former Scotland, Celtic and Dundee goalie will be with the club for at least another season.

He said: “Rab was absolutely magnificent for us again against Dunfermline.

“It is beyond the realms of the imagination that he has not been nominated for the PFA Player of the Year Award.

“He has had 14 shut-outs and has been top-class for us all season.

“Rab has agreed to sign a new deal with the club and I am delighted he will be with us again next season, hopefully playing in the Championship.”
