There was no second half on Saturday for Forfar’s Mark Baxter as he answered the urgent call from his better half saying the arrival of their new baby was imminent.
The full-back had to be substituted at the end of the first 45 minutes against Brechin when word reached him that Natasha had gone into labour.
She subsequently gave birth to a baby boy with Baxter also delighted when he discovered that Forfar managed to secure a win without him to take the Loons to the top of the League One table.
He said: “My partner was a few days overdue so I knew there was a chance it would happen.
“I had our tea-lady with my phone ready to give me the word if I had to leave and I had to head off at half-time.
“Our manager Dick Campbell was great with me and he knows that family comes first before football.
“Still, I am sure I will be getting some stick from the lads when I return to training.
“Natasha gave birth to a baby boy Harris at Ninewells Hospital and both are well and back home now.
“This is our second child so I am well used to changing nappies and we are both delighted with our new arrival. And I will also pick up a win bonus from Saturday!
“We were 2-1 up when I had to dash off and we managed to get another goal for a 3-1 victory.
“We have started well this season and are delighted to be top of the table.
“It is certainly a lot better than last season when we began poorly.
“However, no-one at the club is getting carried away.”
